Global Citizenship Fundraising Resource Pack

African Initiatives has combined its work in Ghana and Tanzania with its work in Development Education in the UK to produce this new and exciting resource pack. The pack is designed to educate young people in schools and youth groups about just some of the issues facing people in Africa by looking specifically at the projects that we run.

At the same time we hope to encourage young people to make a difference to the project they are learning about by raising much needed funds. When young citizens in the UK become active and passionate about social justice; they in turn play a pivotal part in empowering and enabling communities in Ghana and Tanzania to campaign for their rights to land, education and equality.

Each Pack contains:

  • Information Sheets on a range of African Initiatives’ projects including ‘Breaking Barriers – Girl’s Education in Tanzania’ and ‘Trade Injustice: Ghanaian Tomato Farmers’.
  • Assembly ideas to explain each issue, what African Initiatives is doing and how young people can help.
  • Lesson plans for KS1-4 to consolidate and develop understanding.
  • Follow Up Activities.
  • Lists of relevant resources from our Global Resource Centre to explore the issue further.
  • A CD of resources to use with the assemblies and activities including power point presentations; photos; props; sorting cards etc.
  • An A-Z of Fundraising Ideas.
  • An African Initiatives Sponsorship Form.

As part of our thanks to you for raising money for African Initiatives we would also like to offer you…

  • A free assembly for the school.
  • A talk for the parents about where the funds raised will go and what African Initiatives is doing.
  • A follow up visit at the end of the school term or year to show our appreciation to the children and let them see how their efforts have helped their chosen project.
